... tough get going. It`s a pretty lame quote,
but it makes sense to a lot of dedicated and passionate athletes. In many (most)
cases we aren`t professionally dedicated to our sport. So once in a while,
I reach out to this lame quote.
This was quite a hectic week. I`m in full
delivery mode on the project at my client site in Detroit. This means I`m
working 40+ hours in a 4 day timespan. If you then count the time that I
travel, those 4 days are on the busy side.
Nevertheless, I try to keep up with the training
schedule as well. The training load was manageable as I ended up with 93+K in
running and 2 recovery workouts in the water tank (12K alternative pool
running). The only – and most important – part of the training schedule had to
compensate all the time spent on the items above: SLEEP.
I end up with nights of 5-6 hours what is simply
not enough to recover properly. The challenging workout of Saturday suffered a
little bit from this lack of recovery. The 1000s of my 3x3x1K workout (1` jogging
as rest / 3` between the series) were 2-3” slower than last week. It was a rainy workout this week. However, it was still nicer than the weather in Detroit (4F/-15.5C) on Friday morning.
Sportive regards,
Wout
