Five weeks down the road of doing the weekly travel to altitude

After 5 weeks, we can – luckily – state that we`re settled in Colorado Springs. Everything is falling into place and we are getting into our routines. Like Nathalie, I`m getting pretty much adapted to altitude. Even though I have to (re)adapt every single weekend. Both the mileage and the quality are progressing in the way we want to.
The ability/capability a human body surprises me once again. Right now, the mileage is steady around 75 miles (120K) a week. Before adding some more, the body needs to adapt. Also the quality work is finally moving in the right direction. I still struggle a little bit with the real fast stuff. However, every single week the body is reminded to run fast. I don`t want to run into any surprises anymore.

The American Distance Project group is great. The team members are both promising/successful athletes and interesting characters. Having the ability to train again in a group feels good. Considering myself as the slowest of the group can be seen as a huge advantage. Every single workout – if it`s a long run, progressive run or interval repeats – I have at least someone to try to keep up with. As such, I`m progressing every single week.

One of the things that are put back in place is the number of hours of night rest. As a result, all the workouts are done in the morning before work. I don`t care anymore if it is 5:00 AM in the morning. Nathalie learned me to be a morning person. It is great not to worry if you can squeeze in that workout late at night.

Consistency will get me there, 2013 will bring great results. Run happy!
