Week 05 - Bad cold affects workout execution

The Sunday following the indoor mile test, my throat was sore and my nose was stuffed. The rest of the week I was suffering from a bad cold (otitis).

As it was my first cold in a long long time, I`m absolutely not complaining at all. In order to prevent to make it worse, the workouts in Detroit were executed on the treadmill. I don`t like running on any machine, however sometimes it makes more sense than taking the risk in  getting the bad cold even worse.

The workouts on the treadmill were limited to recovery (6`58/mile) and easy runs (6`22/mile). Those runs were already more than though enough. As a best practice, the inclination is set to 1% as we miss the resistance by running on the same place.

On Saturday, a 4mmol training was planned. However, my body indicated that I was not ready for a 2x5x1000m repeat session. It was one of the very few workouts that I had to quit before completing. With 7 out of 10, the training effect was still more than reasonable.

The weekly total was brought back to the 65 miles/week (~105K) level.

Sportive regards,
Wout
